Two New Projects Will Benefit TRACE Residents
March 9, 2019 4:05 pm
Two big development projects are underway to benefit residents of the TRACE community of new homes in San Marcos TX. First, the I-35 junction with Posey Road is being reconfigured to improve traffic flow, which will make it even easier for TRACE residents to travel in and out of the area via I-35. The second change is the opening of a new elementary school within the community, providing unparalleled convenience for students and parents living in TRACE.
San Marcos Posey Lane Bridge construction
The existing interchange between Posey Road and I-35 includes a bridge that carries Posey Road over the interstate. The new interchange will place Posey Road at ground level and feature a new overpass to reroute I-35 over Posey Road.
The project will create new approaches to the interstate, add two U-turns in each direction and reverse the ramps. The existing two-way frontage roads along I-35 will also be changed to one-way traffic. These changes are expected to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late 2020 or early 2021.
Detours will be required throughout the construction project, which is currently in Phase I. TRACE can be reached by entering Posey Road from Old Bastrop Road to the southeast of I-35 or Hunter Road to the northwest. Follow the posted signs to find the best routes.
Rodriguez Elementary School
A brand new elementary school is opening in August 2019 right inside the TRACE community. Students can walk to classes, and parents will enjoy the convenience of attending school events in their own neighborhood. The school campus will include a two-level media center, art studios, an outdoor community space, courtyards and outdoor science classrooms.
TRACE is a 420-acre master planned community that will have more than 1000 homes when completed. Situated halfway between Austin and San Antonio, TRACE is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Texas Blackland Prairie. The community has its own park with an amenity center that features a swimming pool, picnic area and splash pad. In addition to its homes, recreational amenities and new school, TRACE will also include retail and office space as well as its own fire station.
