    What is a Zero-Energy Capable Home?

    Geothermal Energy

    The groundbreaking homes at Whisper Valley all utilize a unique, geothermal loop field or GeoGrid that is installed at the start of development. This remarkable technology uses the thermal properties of the earth beneath our feet to heat and cool each home much more efficiently that traditional systems, reducing consumption by 65%.

    A high-efficiency, geothermal ground source heat pump by top EcoSmart-approved manufacturers provide geothermal heating, cooling and hot water. And it doesn’t require an outdoor condensing unit exposed to the elements year-round that generates unwanted noise. Just another reason we named our community Whisper Valley.

    Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power

    Imagine harnessing the world’s most powerful source of energy: our sun. Using photovoltaic solar panel s, we’re able to convert sunlight into electricity. And residents are able to tap into it without bearing the full cost. This innovative solar pv system installed by Francis Solar generates the electricity needed to power the homes and helps us make zero energy capable homes available in Whisper Valley.

    High-Efficient Appliances

    BOSCH kitchen appliances deliver the ultimate in efficiency and sustainability. German-engineered, they’re built with the finest materials and tested for outstanding performance. A BOSCH range, dishwasher and microwave are included in every EcoSmart home and all play an important role in reducing overall energy consumption. Additional high efficiency BOSCH appliances such as refrigerators, washers and dryers are available for purchase.

    Nest Smart Home Technology

    Every Whisper Valley home will be equipped with the latest smart home products from NEST. The Nest family of products offers our homeowners several valuable benefits. The Nest Learning Thermostat adapts to your schedule to optimize comfort and reduce energy use. Nest Protect and Nest Cam safeguard your home itself by alerting you if smoke or carbon monoxide are presentand keeping a watchful eye while you’re gone. The ‘Works with Nest’ program integrates more than 10,000 smart home products.

    Tax Incentives

    Whisper Valley homeowners are eligible for tax incentives now available for both solar and geothermal systems. Homeowners can receive a tax credit for their home’s solar photovoltaic (PV system), as well as a tax credit on the geothermal equipment that is on the lot and in the home. This includes the ground-source heat pump (including installation) that drives the geothermal heating and cooling system in each home.

    The current law allows homeowners to write off 30% of the value of both systems, which could total between $7,000-$10,000* depending on the size of the home. If the credit is more than the homeowner owes in taxes in the first year, the remaining tax credit can be used to reduce taxes for the following year.

    Each homeowner is encouraged to consult their tax preparer to ensure accuracy when filing their tax return.
