Austin Housing Boom Still Going Strong

Homes in San Marcos TX are continuing to increase in value as demand remains strong. The entire Central Texas region is still in the midst of a housing boom that many experts say will last into the foreseeable future.
A new study by real estate company Orchard examined sales reports from January to March this year compared to last year. It found that the north and west suburbs of Austin saw the most growth in median home prices. The biggest increase was in Wimberley, where prices rose by 68%. In 29 zip codes around Austin, home prices rose more than $100,000 from pre-pandemic values.
The big driver of growth in the region is the continued influx of new residents. Demand was further increased by historically low mortgage interest rates, a reduced number of homes on the market and shortages of building materials and labor during the pandemic. People already living in the Austin area also wanted to move to larger homes that would accommodate home offices and other flex spaces. That often meant moving to the suburbs, where buyers can find spacious homes on larger lots.
Buying a home in the suburbs allows you to get more for your money compared to living in the city. Suburban neighborhoods also have a quieter pace of life with larger yards and more open space. Suburban new home communities often have on-site amenities that aren’t available in the city or in older rural neighborhoods.
With demand so high, our new home communities are filling up fast! Trace is our only community with available homes. Located at Posey Road and I-35, Trace is within commuting distance of Austin and San Antonio. Its Texas Hill Country location means you’ll have lots of outdoor activities and fun things to do in the area and in the community.
