Austin City Limits Music Festival
October 8, 2018 1:17 pm
One of the perks of living in new homes in Austin TX is easy access to the area’s many music festivals. One of the most popular is the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
Held every October at Zilker Metropolitan Park, the festival features 8 stages with a variety of musical acts performing throughout each day. The second weekend of the 2018 festival is October 12-14th. Hours are 11 am-10 pm.
Each day of music is capped off by a headlining performance from a major artist. Friday’s headliner is Paul McCartney at 7:45 on the American Express stage. Saturday will feature Metallica at 8 pm and Sunday’s headliner is Travis Scott at 8:45. Other performers throughout the weekend include Khalid, Lil Wayne, Shawn Mendes and Lard Dog & the Band of Shy. A Silent Disco will be held each night before the headlining performance.
Besides great music, the festival grounds are filled with fun things to do. Performers will sign autographs, vendors will hand out free giveaways, and booth areas will offer artwork, official fan merchandise, festival souvenirs and more. An “Austin Cares” section will be filled with booths representing local nonprofit and charity groups.
Food and beverage options abound, ranging from chef-prepared dishes to pizza, tacos, burgers, desserts, beer and snacks. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options will be available. Free filtered water will be provided at stations throughout the park.
Kids can enjoy the “Austin Kiddie Limits” area with free fun for kids 10 and under. Activities include Create a Tote, Drum Zone, dance parties, a mural wall, treats, photo booth, coloring station, yard games, lounge and more.
Free shuttle service will transport visitors from Republic Square Park. No parking will be available at the festival grounds.
The ACL Festival is presented by Austin Parks Foundation. The ticket price includes commemorative RFID-enabled wristband.
Although the official festival closes at 10 pm, the music continues through the night at several other locations around town. Separate tickets are needed for these performances at venues including Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater, Emo’s Austin and Scoot Inn. David Byrne, St. Vincent, Alice Merton and many other artists will offer late-night performances.
