How To Make a House A Home Creating Memories

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 by Buffington Homes

There are so many new homes in Austin for sale. If you are one of them many who are buying or looking to buy a home, you maybe wondering how you can make your new house feel like home. A house is simply a structure that protects you from the element however a home is a place where you and your family can create special memories. Your home is where you will watch your child take their first steps, celebrate birthdays, milestone anniversaries and enjoying family dinners.

Here are some ways to make your new house feel like home sweet home.

1. Plant a garden or tree: Visit your local green house or garden department of your local hardware store. You and your family will enjoy picking out plants, flowers, herbs, vegetables and/or fruit. This could be a fun activity for you and your family. Let the kids pick out their favorite flowers and vegetables. They will have fun watching their plants grow from season to season and year to year.

2 Make a height chart: Do you remember your parents doing this in your home? Marking your children’s height is a very common thing for parents to do. Create a height chart on canvas, make a giant ruler out of wood or use the door. You and your children will love seeing how much they have grown. Determine when and how often you measure their height. You can record their height the first day of school and the last of school every year. I will be fun for the whole family.

3. Start a family night in: Designate a day each month stay home and play games, watch a movie, etc. This will be fun for the whole family. Have one child pick the activity and another pick the meal. You will create lasting memories by spending time together inside your home.

4. Create a gallery wall: Hang photos and art to create a gallery wall inside your home. You can use your children’s art and family photos to create your gallery wall. Hang holiday photos, school photos, and photos from special moments. Your children will love seeing their artwork up on the wall and feel a sense of pride in what they have created.

5. Make a family library: If you do not have a room available then use an area in your home. Designate an area in your home where your kids can enjoy their favorite books or an area where you can read to them. You will make memories while reading together in your special place.
